Attractive and Strong
Marinewood is easy to work, relatively inexpensive and on a strength-to-weight ratio it out performs most other popular materials. Developed specifically for use in marine environment (particularly in the construction of boat hulls), it is manufactured with a high grade Hoop pine (Araucaria cunninghamii) face and back. Construction allows 2.4mm slash pine (Pinus elliottii) veneers in the core. Meets both structural and marine standards.

Waterproofing and Grade
Marinewood is particularly suitable for use with modern epoxy systems which provide a virtually impermeable moisture barrier and often permit simplified construction methods. All marinewood has an "A" grade face and back.

Impact Resistance
Marinewood has a minimum stress grading of F14 and is included in AS/NZS 1720 as an engineered panel. High impact strength offers resistance to impact damage caused by rough weather and floating debris.

Applications
Although widely used in the boat building industry Marinewood, with its high grade face veneer, is also used in the manufacturing of furniture, feature walls and any application where clear finishing is desired to emphasize the beautiful grain of the hoop pine. As both face and back veneers of the panel are "A" grade, marinewood is only recommended for applications where both sides of the plywood will be visible. For applications where only one side is visible H.Y. International recommend using an "A" face veneer panel with a more economical lower grade back veneer.

AS/NZS2272 Standard
Marinewood is manufactured to AS/NZS2272 from plantation grown and hoop and slash pine. This select group of species is recognized for its performance in marine environments. Performance equivalent to the Bristish marine Standard (BS1088).
